The ABC's of Estate Planning: P is for Power of Attorney

P is for POWER OF ATTORNEY. One of the most important documents you are sign, this allows an “attorney-in-fact’ to act for you in most financial matters, limited by anything you wish in the power of attorney document. The Power of Attorney is considered to be revoked when you die, and then a Personal Representative (Executor/Executrix) or Trustee takes over for them. You almost always want your power of attorney to be “durable” meaning it survives incapacity.
